About Me

Thank you for visiting my portfolio site!  I hope you’ve enjoyed viewing my images.

I was born in Ohio, but have lived most of my life in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.  I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida with a major in Mathematics and have worked in the field of software development for over 25 years.

My photography journey started in the mid 1990’s when I made the conscious choice to take photos with the goal of creating beautiful images.  My photography skills are mostly self-taught from reading many books and magazines, working with other photographers, and a lot of hard work.   I’ve spent thousands of hours capturing images and have spent more thousands than I’d like to admit on equipment and travel expenses.

I sold my images in fine art festivals for 5 years until family and work considerations led me to invest my time elsewhere.

I have been a volunteer for Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida since 2008.  I’m occasionally tapped to take photos of current rescue dogs for their online profiles, or for adopted dogs for the organization’s annual calendar.

I think the Art in fine art photography is a combination of the vision, the capture, and the process of bringing the photo to life in post processing.  The end result is an image that’s often better than life.
